Abstract

1,267,120. Machinery guards. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. 10 April, 1970 [10 April, 1969], No. 17278/70. Heading F2J. [Also in Division B6] A guard bar 6 for the nip of a pair of cooperating cylinders 1, 2 which rotate in opposite directions is so mounted that when one cylinder 2 is adjusted bodily relative to the other, the guard 6 is moved to maintain substantially constant its spacing a from the cylinders. In a three-cylinder printing unit shown, the cylinder 2 is mounted on eccentric bushes 4 pivoted by a ram 5 to adjust its position. A roller 12 on each bush 4 engages a slot 11 in an arcuate arm 7 supporting an end of the guard 6 from a fixed pivot 8. As cylinder 2 moves from position 2a to 2b, the guard 6 moves from position 6a to 6b. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the arms (7) are mounted on rings (13) rotatable coaxially of the cylinder (1). In Fig. 5 (not shown), support arms (15) having fixed pivots carry the guard (6) and rollers (12) coaxial therewith, the rollers (12) engaging guide-slots mounted on the eccentric bushes 4.
