Abstract

1,261,752. Developing electrostatic images. RANK XEROX Ltd. March 27, 1969 [March 28, 1968], No.16143/69. Heading G2H. A latent electrostatic image on a photoconductive web 4 is developed by an endless donor belt 3 in close contact with web 4. The web is separated from the belt 3 by rollers 42, 43. Electrodes 52, 53 create an electric field which causes toner particles held to the web 4 by mechanical forces to be electro-phoretically attracted to the donor belt 3 thereby reducing fogging. A pump 6 supplies an insulating carrier liquid 2 having a high toner density to screen electrodes 55 spaced from an electrode 54 dispersed above the belt 3. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1, 133,321.
