Abstract
1,274,181. Electro-photographic developing device. RANK XEROX Ltd. Jan. 5, 1971 [Jan. 8, 1970], No.381/71. Heading G2H. Insulating liquid is applied by a roller 112 to a conveyer 101, the rear surface of an electrostatic latent image bearing sheet 100 is pressed into contact with the coated conveyer by a roller 104 and developing liquid is fed for a pipe 106 to the space between the front, image-bearing surface of sheet 100 and a developing electrode 113. The surface tension of the insulating liquid maintains close contact between the sheet and conveyer, thus ensuring a constant image-electrode spacing. In Fig. 2 (not shown), members 104, 105, 106 are located beneath conveyer 101. In Fig.3 (not shown) the development electrode is constituted by the bottom, apertured well of a developer supply housing (300). Various materials for and constructional forms of endless conveyer are named. Materials for rollers 104, 112 are named. A conveyer support 111 may be provided. If the conveyer is conductive it may be earthed. Preferably both sides of sheet 100 are wetted with insulating liquid before development.
