A rope-clamp for securing vessels consists of a movable grooved wedge-shaped gripper 34 lying between correspondingly grooved cheeks 46, 48 the rope being passed round the gripper which is thus pulled to grip the rope against the fixed cheeks, the clamp being mounted on a base 38 which is grooved at 28 to receive the cable.
