Abstract

1,252,344. Delivering cigarettes in orderly arrangement. HAUNI-WERKE KORBER & CO. K.G. 13 Feb., 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 7848/69. Heading A2C. Filter cigarettes or similar rod-like articles are reversed by a device comprising a rotor with holders pivotally mounted thereon, the pivotal axes being parallel to the rotational axis of the rotor. Double-length cigarettes with intermediate filter portions are cut in two on a rotary cutting drum 1 and transferred to a drum 2 from which one cigarette of each pair is removed by a drum 5 and transferred to the turning device 7 whence it is picked up by a drum 6 and passed to a drum 3. The other cigarette of each pair remains on the drum 2 to be transferred directly to the drum 3 so that all cigarettes on this drum have their filters facing the same direction. The cigarettes are subsequently transferred to a testing or checking drum 4. The rotor 9, geared to rotate about a vertical axis in unison with the drums, carries channelled holders 13 formed on levers 11 which are pivotally mounted about vertical axes on the rotor. Another arm (not shown) on each lever has a roller coacting with a fixed, annular cam to cause pivotal movement of the levers 11 so that the axes of the channels in the holders 13 are maintained substantially parallel to the grooves in the drums 5, 6 during transfer of cigarettes between these drums and the holders. The holders 13 are blown clean by an air nozzle 42 during their movement from the drum 6 to the drum 5.
