Abstract

940,154. Cigarette-making machines. K. KÍRBER. Nov. 23, 1959 [Feb. 2, 1959], No. 39635/59. Heading A2C. A tobacco stream V is trimmed by a rotary cutter 4 at or near the point of transfer of the stream from a streamforming belt T to a belt F on which it is formed into a cigarette rod, transference being effected with the aid of a duct moving with the stream. As shown, the . duct comprises the grooved periphery of a disc 1, the groove base having apertures communicating with a fixed suction chamber 2; but instead of the disc three endless belt conveyers may be used coacting to form a rectangular section duct, the conveyer forming the base being perforated to co-act with the suction chamber. The cutter 4 may be preceded by meshing star wheels 3 as in Specification 940,155. Bridge pieces 9 are provided.
