Abstract

Field carriages. - Relates to endless-track vehicles applicable for use as gun carriages, and consists in providing an endless chain G, Fig. 1, formed with laterally projecting pivoted lugs f, Figs. 6 and 7, at each side with which engages a pair of sprocket wheels d. On the upper non-working run of the chain the lugs are folded over by curved guides k and inclined guides l<1>, and travel between the inner and outer walls a, b, Fig. 2, of the frame, the lower parts of the walls being curved to guide the lugs during the working run of the chain. Toothed guide rollers i, at the ends of the frame engage central projections g' on the chain plates, and load carrying rollers c on the frame engage the chain on its working run, the outer rollers running on smooth parts of the chain and the inner roller on the racklike central portion. More than one set of rollers may be used.
