Abstract
123,434. Weyman, J. E. March 13, 1918. Atmospheric gas burners.-A burner for consuming gases of low calorific power, such as blast furnace gases, is provided with a transverse partition D having circular openings E larger at the inlet than at the outlet ends, and air-supply tubes F connected to a common air chamber G are arranged co-axially with these openings E, gas being admitted through a side opening R. In some cases, additional air is supplied through ports P at the rear end of the burner and is regulated by a hit-and-miss valve K which, together with a valve N in the air-supply pipe H, may be controlled by the pressure in the gas main acting through the governor. Secondary air may be supplied through a chamber B surrounding the burner casing. In a modification, each air' tube discharges into a separate constricted tube, which delivers the mixture at the end of the burner casing.
