Abstract

122,603. Hunt, G., and Campion, C. W. Feb. 8, 1918. Stretching tubular goods upon internal frames. -In apparatus of the kind described in Specification 119,742 for stretching and finishing tubular fabrics, the shields or spreader for extending the fabric vertically are constructed so that their widths can be adjusted to suit the width of fabric being treated. As shown, the spreaders A, A<1> are pivoted at F, F<1> to the hollow support E and are moved vertically by toggle links II connected to a joint pin H' adjustable in a slot in an extension of the slide G, by the motion of which the side arms B are adjusted. Each spreader has side sections D pivoted to a middle section C, and is adjusted in width by toggle links J pivoted to the side sections, the joint pin J' moving in a slot in the middle section. The joint pins J' of the upper and lower spreaders are connected to cables K, K' passed through the support E and operated from its pedestal by levers, so that the width of each of the spreaders can be adjusted independently while the fabric is being treated. According to the Provisional Specification, the side sections may be adjusted by connexion with the side arms B.
