Abstract

A pattern mechanism comprising a series of levers 1 selectively moved from contact with selector jack butts 10 by pins 12 in a pattern drum 4 is so arranged that the radial line A-B of the levers and the needle cylinder radius to B subtends an angle of not less than 120‹. The angle subtended faces in the same direction as the direction of cylinder rotation. The arrangement is stated to ensure reliable selection. The levers are guided by a stop rod 21 engaging cuts-out 6. The levers may be rendered inoperative, e.g. during reciprocatory knitting, by pivoting them away from the cylinder by means of rod 19 mounted on arms 17-18 also pivoting on axis 2.
