1,203,924. Curving. C. H€USLER. 8 May, 1969 [10 Aug., 1968], No. 23483/69. Heading B3E. A bending machine for forming a sheet 13 having the shape of a circular ring segment into a cone comprises two drivable transport rolls 1 and 2 having their axes in a first common plane, two adjustable rotatable bending rolls 3 and 4 each movable to be positioned laterally of the space defined between the transport rolls and, at one end of said rolls, a device for guiding the shorter arcuate edge 13d of the sheet comprising a slide shoe 11 arranged between the ends of the transport rolls and having a width of between 60 and 90% of the diameter of said transport rolls which are mounted such that the gap between them narrows in the direction away from the slide shoe. The bending rolls 3 and 4 converge towards the slide shoe shown in Figs. 4 and 5. The shoe has a flat lower side for seating on the bearing support of the lower transport roll 2 and two inclined slide portions 11c and 11d. Adjacent the slide shoe, or in the shoe itself, there is disposed a spray .device (not shown) for lubricating the slide surfaces and the adjoining portions of the transport rolls as well as the surfaces of the sheet to be curved. Edge reinforcements are provided on the rolls adjoining the slide shoe.
