Abstract

1359088 Stretching CREUSOT-LOIRE 12 April 1972 [19 May 1971] 16876/72 Heading B3E A machine for flattening metal strip under tension comprises a plurality of deflector rolls 2 having no back-up rolls, a plurality of flattening rolls 3 having back-up rolls 4 and a smaller diameter than that of the deflector rolls, and means, e.g. a ram 10, for bending a deflector roll in an adjustable manner under the action of a force couple applied thereto. In the embodiment the deflector roll 2 is mounted in roller bearings 6 situated in housings 5 pivotable about an axis 7 parallel to the direction of advance of the strip. The housing 5 can be turned on the axis 7 by the jack 10 which is attached to projections 9 on each housing.
