Abstract

1289098 Rolling mills UNITED ENG & FOUNDRY CO 15 Oct 1969 [21 Oct 1968] 49805/68 Addition to 1107727 Heading B3M A strip rolling mill is provided with roll bending apparatus for varying the shape of the roll gap, to correct for changes in the thickness of strip being rolled. The roll bending forces are applied to the ends of the backing rolls 17 and 18 by piston assemblies 36 and 49. One piston of each assembly acts through a yoke on an associated roll end, while the other piston acts on a beam 23 or 45. The beams are located in the windows of the mill for isolating bending reaction forces from the housing.
