Abstract

1277283 Roller press ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 18 Aug 1969 [3 Sept 1968] 41170/69 Heading B5A Overlapping D-shaped briquettes of compressed particulate metal are made by feeding into the nip of a pair of rolls, Fig. 3, each provided with a series of spaced apart mould pockets the series of one roll partially overlapping the series of the other by from 1-20%. The segments containing the mould pockets are provided in the circumferential surface of the rolls and may be replaced when worn without changing the whole roll. The edges of the mould segments may have raised surfaces or protrusions 23, 24, Fig. 4, which extend into the pockets yielding briquettes of concave crosssection.
