Abstract

1,175,048. Blow - moulding. INTERSTABELLA A.G. 7 Dec., 1966 [13 May, 1966], No. 54782/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Divisions B7 and B8] A plastics container, e.g. a bottle, is formed with at least two truncated spherical zones provided at the junction between them with a reinforcement ring, the closed end wall of the container being convex. The ring may be blowmoulded integrally with the container body. A support 2 may be provided by forming a weld at 4, and the body may be seamed at 3. The support 2 may be separately formed, e.g. of separate segments or it may be inserted in a groove in the moulded body of the container, Figs. 3-4 (not shown); or it may be welded or adhered to the body. The support may be formed of a cardboard strip; or it may be formed as a wire framework supporting the container at its waist, Fig. 5 (not shown). The reinforcement ring (9), Fig. 7 (not shown), may be of paper or cardboard, the ring being bonded or glued to the container wall. The ring may be of a different colour from the bottle. The container may be a cask, Fig. 8 (not shown). The ring (9) may be apertured, enabling the container body material to flow into it during moulding, Fig. 9 (not shown). A multi-section container, lying horizontally, may have supports (12), Fig. 13 (not shown), fastened to two of its rings (9). The container may be used as a buoy or fender, or as a transport container, e.g. for fuel oil. Closure.-A cap of tinplate or aluminium may be crimped on the container over an elastic seal 16. A tear tab 19 may be combined with a weakened portion in the cap. Moulding.-The container may be formed by placing a reinforcing ring round a plastics tube and blowing the tube to form two partspherical zones on either side of the ring. The support 2 may be placed in the mould when the container is blown. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 856,958.
