Abstract
1,174,792. Adjustable seats. RECARO A.G. 23 March, 1967 [23 March, 1966], No. 13777/67. Heading A4J. In a vehicle seating arrangement, in which access to the rear seat 29 is gained on moving seat 2 to an exaggeratedly, forward position, the rearward return movement of the seat 2 is terminated by an automatic re-engagement of pin 16 of leg frame 6, with a notch 18, in a cross brace 14, at the previously selected inclination of leg frame 6. With the sleeve 22 in its lowered position, (Figs. 2-5, not shown) slots 17 and 23 coincide and provide an L-shaped path along the horizontal limb of which the pin 16 is free to ride, on raising the free end of brace 14, thus allowing the seat to move into its extreme forward position. The sleeve 22 is held, during this movement, by pin 24 engaging a groove 25 in brace 14. On raising the sleeve however, into the position shown in Fig. 6, pin 24 is freed and pin 16 enters a notch (23<SP>11</SP>) facing notch 23<SP>1</SP>. The sleeve 22 is thus retained on the pin 16, while movement of the seat causes the brace 14 to slide therethrough. When the seat reaches its selected position of adjustment, the sleeve 22 is released and springs 27 and 28 effect re-engagement of pin 16 in a notch 18 and of pin 24 in a groove 25. In a modified locking mechanism (Figs. 8-12, not shown) a cylindrical sleeve (122) slides along and around a brace (114) of round section. The sleeve has diametrically opposed L-shaped slots (123 and 130) which are functionally equivalent to the T-shaped slot 23, 23<SP>1</SP> (23<SP>11</SP>). The seat 2 may alternatively be mounted at the rear on a sliding pivot (12, Figs. 13-14, not shown) and the brace (14<SP>1</SP>) may have its fixed pivot (15) on the front leg frame (6<SP>1</SP>) and its movable pivot (16<SP>1</SP>) to the rear.
