Abstract
1,173,350. Cable. CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD. 27 Nov., 1968 [26 Sept., 1967], No. 43760/67. Heading H1A. A screened cable has lapped high-density polyethylene tape as insulation around a conductor with a conductor screen between the conductor and the insulation formed of highdensity polyethylene tape having one or both surfaces made conductive by printing with a conductive ink. The ink is made conductive by the addition of a noble metal or carbon and the screen may be formed of a number of intercalated layers of tape, 1, 2, 3, 4 having both surfaces conductive, and tapes 5, 6, with the inner surface conductive, two successive tapes overlapping each other to the extent of 50%. A similar screen may be provided outside the insulation. A bedding material which may be partially conducting carbon black paper or a plastics felt or a partially conducting polyethylene may be provided between the conductor and its screen.
