Abstract

Capacitative control of the voltage distribution between high voltage and earth on insulators is achieved by arranging on the insulation at least one insulating tape with electrodes applied in the longitudinal direction. The tape 10 may have electrodes 11 positioned on both sides so as to constitute a series connection of capacitors. Alternatively, the tape may have electrodes on one side only (Fig. 6, not shown), the series connection being obtained between adjacent overlapping turns of the tape. The tape (9, Fig. 4, not shown) may be wound on the main insulation (7) or on a carrier (8) or on an insulating sleeve which is then folded round the insulation; or the voltage control arrangement may be a separate unit with terminals.
