Abstract

1,160,927. Dry shavers. ROBERT KRUPS. 17 Feb., 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 7639/67. Heading B4B. An electric dry shaver comprises a short hair cutter consisting of a reciprocating cutter blade 17 and a perforated foil 16 and a long hair cutter consisting of a reciprocating cutter blade 20 and a stationary comb plate 19, means being provided for moving the long hair cutter between operative and non-operative positions without rotation of the cutter assembly. The comb plate 19 has attached thereto two guiding pins 26 each engaging a slot 27 in the blade 20 so that the blade is held solely on the comb plate 19. The blade 20 is pressed against the comb by sprung ball detents 21. The inner edge of the blade 20 has an angled portion 29 forming a coupling means 30 engaging a thickened part 31 at the free end of a coupling pin 32 rigid with the oscillating bar 14 of an oscillating armature motor. The long-hair cutter 18 is retractable into the shaver casing 12 by rotation of a disc 33 bearing a pin 34 engaged in a slot 35 formed in the comb plate. Retraction of the comb plate moves the coupling 30 to a narrow part of the pin 32 to disconnect the drive. In a modification, the disc 33 is replaced by a sliding knob, which may also serve to open the razor top.
