Abstract
1,139,571. Winding yarns. KLINGER MFG. CO. Ltd. 18 Feb., 1966 [12 Feb., 1965], No. 6254/65. Heading D1J. A yarn package 14, driven by friction means 10 acting on the package, is subjected to pressure by a freely rotatable roller 19 to ensure that the package shall not become oval or otherwise irregular in cross-section during winding, displacement of the roller 19 being resisted by frictional means. The roller 19 is carried by arms 20 mounted on a shaft 22 rotatable in a support 23. As illustrated a spring on the shaft 22 creates pressure between a friction washer 29 Fig. 2, a collar 28 fixed on the shaft 22 and a steel washer 30, the washer 30 pressing against a flange 26 associated with the support 23. A nut 32 enables the pressure exerted by the spring to be varied. In a modified construction. Fig. 3 (not shown), the support 23 is split down to the shaft 22 and nut and bolt means is provided whereby the magnitude of the gap defined by the slit can be varied to adjust the grip of the support 23 on the shaft 22. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the construction of Fig. 3 has been modified by securing a spring (52) to the split support, the spring bearing on a pulley 54 on the shaft 22 to create extra frictional resistance.
