Abstract
1,136,597. Moving coil transducers. ROLA CELESTION Ltd. 18 March, 1966 [10 May, 1965], No. 19731/65. Heading H4J. Magnet system for a moving coil loudspeaker or microphone has a ceramic ring magnet 10, Fig. 2, with front and rear plates 15 and 11 of mild steel each of smaller diameter than the outer diameter of the ring magnet. The front plate has a central aperture which, with the rod polepiece 13 secured to the rear plate, forms an air gap to receive the instrument moving coil. A securing ring 17 is provided with a central forwardly directed recess to take the front polepiece and is held in position by the inturned edge 38 of an aluminium cup 20 which is located on a spigot 22 projecting from the rear plate of the magnet assembly. The outer edge of the securing plate 17 may be shaped as shown in Fig. 3, and the various components may be additionally held together by adhesive interposed between the contacting surfaces. The front plate may have projections 23, Fig. 2, which may be used as rivets to secure the magnet assembly to the diaphragm supporting chassis.
