Abstract

1,130,746. Index tabs. WIDERANGE OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEMS Ltd. 31 Aug., 1966 [31 Aug., 1965], No. 37128/65. Heading B6E. A pocketed tab 1 comprises two superposed pieces of stiff transparent material secured together at 4, 5 and 7 to provide a rectangular pocket for an index label &c., the open end of the pocket having finger recesses 6 therein, and limbs 2 which extend beyond the pocket are adapted to embrace, and be secured to, an index card, file cover &c. The tab 1 is made of transparent thermoplastic material such as polythene, and the opposed pieces are heatsealed together along continuous lines at 4, 5, and discontinuously along the line 7. The limbs 2 are semicircular, and may be secured to a file by adhesive, staples, or clips; or they may be perforated and tied by threads . In a filing system, the tabs are mounted on inclined edges of files &c. which are formed by cutting off the file corners (Fig. 2).
