Abstract
1,078,053. Clips. A. P. F. TEMPLE and R. S. HENDERSON. April 29, 1964 [April 30. 1963], No. 16991/63. Heading E2B. A clip is formed from resilient sheet material which is slitted or slotted to define oppositely directed intercalating tongues 2 capable of being flexed into planes substantially parallel with the general plane of the sheet for gripping. In the embodiment described the clip is used with a map strip which is folded concertina fashion and has cover strips C slightly longer and wider than the map section secured to either end of the strip. Each cover strip C is cut at 1 to define inwardly projecting tongues 2 and are extended at 3 and 5 to define a U-shaped end marginal portion 8 outside the map section 4. The cuts 5 may be extended inwardly at 6 to provide greater strength on the hinge line a-a. Each cut may terminate in a hole 7 or have round comers (Fig. 5, not shown) to prevent splitting. When the tongues 2 are engaged over a number of folds of the map the end portion 8 moves out of the plane of the cover strip around the sides of the map so that the tongue 2 lies substantially parallel to the plane of the coverstrip.
