Abstract

1,116,754. Casings for dynamo-electric machines. ROTRON MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. 9 Dec., 1966 [29 Dec., 1965], No. 55330/66. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F1] A driving motor 20 of a compressor (see Division F 1) is surrounded by an annular chamber containing sound absorbent material 42, 46 retained by perforated plates 43,48, to attenuate the noise primarily of the compressor but also the noise of the motor transmitted through the housing 10. Alternatively, the chamber can contain a number of inter-connecting resonant sound-attenuating cavities. An end plate 26 fastened by screws 26a can be removed for replacement or repair of the motor or its bearings.
