Abstract
659,495. Rotary engines. STRATVEIT, N. N. Feb. 16,1949, No. 4290. [Class 110(ii)] A gyratory piston'10, in a working chamber 4, 5 is driven by members which are rigidly secured to the ends of the piston and connected with a shaft. In Fig. 1 pins 11 extend through end walls 2, 3 being rigidly connected with the piston and driving discs 13, 14 which are journalled at 15, 16 on an eccentric shaft 17, supported in bearings 18, 19. The piston, which may be hollow, is sufficiently thick to always cover the openings 12 in the end walls, and .may have radially-extending flanges in casing end slots. Fig. 5 shows another sealing means having circular discs 22, mounted in the end walls 2, 3 and the pins 11 extend through the discs. The discs also act as guides for the piston. Fig. 7 has additional discs 24, mounted in recesses 25 in the discs 22, the discs 24 being slotted to guide the fins 11 which have flats provided on their sides. In another modification, the piston 10 has driving discs inside the walls 2, 3 which extend through the inner cylindrical wall 4. The discs have apertures through which pass axial extensions 32, Fig. 9 (not shown) connecting the wall 4 with the end walls 2, 3. The driving discs may be mounted directly on crank pins, or on an eccentric shaft, or otherwise connected to the shaft.
