Abstract

1,110,043. Machines for surface working of grassland. SISAS EQUIPMENT (MACCLESFIELD) Ltd. 7 July, 1965 [11 July, 1964; 1 Sept., 1964; 13 Oct., 1964; 20 Nov., 1964], Nos. 28739/64, 35670/64, 41669/64 and 47283/64. Heading A1B. An implement for working the surface of the ground comprises a power driven rotary slitter assembly of blades mounted on a frame portion 44a which is adjustably attached to a further frame portion 40 provided with means for attachment to the lift links 11, 12, 13 of a tractor. As shown in Fig. 6 bolt holes 41b, 41d are provided so that the slitter assembly can be set at an angle as shown in chain dotted lines. Bracing, stays 11a, 12a are provided to provide additional resistance to slewing or crabbing of the frame when working. The implement is used on ground treated with "paraquat" to cut slits in the ground. A seed sower may be mounted behind the slitters and a shield may be provided so that soil thrown up by the slitters is directed back on to the soil to cover the seed. In a modification a deflector is provided to direct the soil thrown up by the slitters into a hopper where it is deposited back on the soil to cover the seeds sown by a distributing device at the bottom of the hopper. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,051,766.
