Abstract
1,096,513. Control of A.C. motors. DANFOSS A.S. Jan. 18, 1966 [Jan. 20, 1965], No. 2340/66. Heading H2J. A split-phase induction motor, e.g. in a refrigerator has, in series with its starting winding, a resistor having a level or slightly negative temperature co-efficient up to normal ambient temperature and a high positive one above that temperature. This provides full starting current at the high ambient temperature envisaged, with reduction to a negligible value when the resistor is further heated by the starting current. The supply circuit has a switch responsive to the temperature of the main winding.
