Abstract

1,201,725. Control of A.C. motors. DANFOSS A.S. 11 July, 1968 [19 Aug., 1967], No. 33166/68. Heading H2J. To improve the torque provided by a singlephase asynchronous motor having a PTC resistor in series with the starting winding, a capacitor is connected in parallel with the resistor. The low resistance of the cold PTC resistor first acts as a starting resistance and then when warm the resistor virtually switches the starting circuit to pure capacitance. An ohmic resistor may be in series with the PTC resistor to protect the latter.
