[Also in Division G1] An ionization detector for use in chromatographic gas analysis of a multicomponent mixture has two measuring electrodes one of which is used to control switching of the measuring circuit (see Division G1). The detector comprises a cylindrical radio-active cathode 10 and needle anode 11. The measuring electrodes 12, 13 may be a pair of concentric rings, or a split cylinder, Fig. 4 (not shown) or a pair of rods arranged end on axially in the chamber, Fig. 5 (not shown) or a split rod, Fig. 6 (not shown). In the latter two cases the measuring electrodes also form the anode.
