Abstract

1,088,566. Laminates. FORMWOOD Ltd. March 1, 1965, No. 8655/65. Heading B5N. Laminates comprising wood fibre or shavings cores and surface and balancing layers of paper, glass or other fabrics, mats or metal foil bonded with thermoset resins such as phenol-, urea- or melamine-formaldehyde resins, have included beneath the latter layers, layers of dried paper or other material impregnated with a curing catalyst for the resin, e.g. ammonium chloride, to accelerate the curing of the resin. In a Figure (not shown), catalyst-impregnated dried layers of α-cellulose paper are provided beneath each of a decorative and a supporting paper sheet on the upper side of a core layer, and a sheet of melamine and a balancing paper sheet on the lower side thereof.
