Abstract

1,081,420. Two-part couplings. UNITEDCARR Inc. Dec. 29, 1964 [Feb. 6, 1964], No. 52689/64. Heading H2E. When plug and socket members are coupled together resilient fingers 104 of the socket slide over plug contact 46, and their tapered ends 101 engage the tapered end 53 of a sleeve 54, which can slide against the action of spring 50 along the plug contact, thus deflecting the fingers 104 into contact with the plug contact whether or not there is any initial distortion of the socket contact. The contacts are held in insulating bodies on which outer shielding contacts 17 and 80 are crimped at 38 and 88 respectively, the indentations being surrounded by collars 40 and 90. The outer shielding contact 80 is pressed into engagement with the contact 17 by means of spring-loaded sleeve 14 which acts in exactly the same way as the sleeve 54. The whole plug assembly is mounted in a body 63 which is clamped to a body 64, and the socket assembly is mounted in an insulating body 106.
