Abstract

1,076,740. Securing rails to sleepers. LOCK-SPIKE Ltd. May 26, 1966 [Oct. 11, 1965], No. 43130/65. Heading E1G. A flange footed rail 1 is fastened to a transverse metal member 2, extending each side of the flange, by two separate anchoring members 3 each having a portion 68 extending under the rail and each providing a passage, close to and parallel to the rail, for the reception of one leg 7 of a fastening member having two further portions, one 8 bearing on the rail flange, or an intermediate member placed thereon, and the other 9 on an unyielding surface on the opposite side of the passage to the rail. The transverse metal member 2 may be a steel sleeper or a plate secured to a wood or concrete sleeper and the anchoring members may be welded thereto. Alternatively the anchoring member may be a malleable iron casting having an L-shaped leg passing through a hole in the metal member and extending under the rail.
