Abstract

1,061,765. Fuel-injection pumps. V.D. ROOSA. Sept. 5, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 35089/63. Heading F1A. A fuel-injection pump comprises a rotary distributor 40 with a feed pump 42 at one end and an injection pump 44 at the other end, the injection pump inlet port 80 in the rotor being in continuous communication with a supply groove 78 in the pump housing, from feed pump 42, and a ball valve (110), Fig. 2 (not shown) being provided in the rotor to prevent reverse flow of fuel through inlet port 80 during the injection pump delivery stroke. The opening movement of the ball valve is limited by an adjustable stop screw (116) to limit the quantity of fuel delivered. The stop screw is locked in position by a flourable setting material (118), e.g. epoxy resin, a second screw (120) acting to pressurize material (118). A hand priming pump may be connected to nipple 108 which communicates with supply groove 78 via a check valve 124. A check valve 122 prevents flow of priming fuel to the feed pump, and check valve 124 prevents flow from the feed pump to the priming pump. Groove 78 may alternatively be in rotor 40 and inlet port 80 in the housing.
