Abstract
1,041,377. Haymaking machines. GOODALL'S PATENTS Ltd. Aug. 5, 1964 [Aug. 16, 1963; Nov. 28, 1963], Nos. 32435/63 and 46991/63. Heading A1F. In a haymaking machine of the type wherein ground-driven rake-wheels 15 are arranged obliquely to the line of travel A of the machine, fixed baffles 16 are mounted so as to receive the crop displaced by the rake-wheels, the arrangement being that the crop is both laterally displaced and laterally compacted by the passage of the machine. As shown, the machine frame 10, 11, 12 is provided with an A-frame for attachment to the power lift of a tractor 13 and has two crank-supported rakewheels 15 discharging crop against a vertical baffle 16 formed either of sheet material or of tines. The baffle is pivoted about a vertical axis 17 and loaded by a spring 19 against deflection. A second frame may be pivoted to the first about a horizontal longitudinal axis and be pivotable into a raised inoperative position (Fig. 3, not shown). The swath of crop is discharged through a narrow gap 22 between the rearmost rake-wheel and the baffle.
