Abstract
1,036,972. Baling machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. Dec. 23, 1963 [Jan. 15, 1963], No. 50770/63. Heading B5F. In a side feed hay baler the pick-up unit 2, comprising pick-up tins 3, auger 6, and conveying grabs 7, is inclined to the direction of travel P of the baler by an angle differing from 90 degrees in order to facilitate a more complete collection of the crop. In the embodiment shown the pick-up unit is inclined forwardly relative to the bale chamber 8 which is substantially parallel to the direction of motion, the working parts of the baler being driven through suitable bevel gearing from the power take-off 14 of the tractor 15. A circular rake 22 is carried by a crank 21 pivoted to the front of the bale chamber and serves to displace the edge of the windraw &c. into the path of the pick-up unit. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the pick-up unit is inclined rearwardly relative to the bale chamber.
