Abstract

1,033,784. Vehicle windows. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. May 1, 1964, No. 18165/64. Headings E1J and E1R. An endless run channel strip 9 of synthetic rubber and with guide groove 15 is attached to a flange 5 around the edge of a vehicle window opening with a clearance 30 between the strip 9 and the opposing wall face 7 and is stiffened, by a metallic stiffener 25 of channel section whose base 27 contacts the periphery of the strip 9 and whose side flanges 31, 33 project inwardly from the base. The strip 9 is attached to the flange 5 by an internal lip portion 13 and one flange, 33 of the stiffener lies between the lip 13 of the main portion 11 of the run channel strip 9. The guide groove 15 has a rubber block sprayed channel insert 17. Drainage holes 36 pass through the base of insert 17, the body 11 and the stiffener 25. Window 21 is fixed in the main body portion 11 of the strip 9 by rubber fillets inserted in the unoccupied portion of groove 20 when the window 21 is home in the one vertical groove of the strip.
