Abstract
1,030,420. Mattresses. J. S. WISE. March 2, 1965 [Dec. 10, 1963], No. 48695/63. Heading A4M. A mattress 1 of foam rubber or other flexible porous material is formed in its upper surface with parallel channels 2 extending from one end of the mattress, the other ends of the channels 2 being closed, and interconnected adjacent the closed ends by transverse channels 5 thereby to permit the passage of a heated air stream through an inlet duct 7 associated with the central channels, along the channels 2, 5 and to escape through the open ends of the outer channels 2. A cover 6 of substantially non-porous material, e.g. rubber, closes the tops of the channels. The cover 6 may be porous in certain areas, e.g. at the foot of the mattress in the region of the transverse channels 5.
