Abstract

1,139,357. Pillows. A. WOODWARD. 25 Oct., 1967 [31 Oct., 1966], No. 48708/66. Heading A4M. A pillow comprises a foamed plastics or rubber sheet provided with air vent holes (4), the sheet being folded on itself to define an envelope with upper and lower layers 1, 2, a further, perforated, foamed layer 3 covering the lower layer 2, a soft, cylindrical spacer 5 in one end of the envelope, and a tapered, fibrous pad 6 in the envelope between the spacer 5 and the opposite end. The pillow is enclosed in a removable, double-thickness, air-permeable case 9 enclosing a layer 11 of wadding in its upper face. The spacer 5 comprises rubberised hair in a gauze cover. The envelope layers 1, 2 are peripherally stitched (7) such that air vents are formed between adjacent stitches. The envelope is encased in a gauze bag 8.
