Abstract
1,022,834. Stop-motion. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Feb. 1, 1965 [Feb. 20,1964J, No. 7164/64. Heading D1D. A stop motion for a machine in which rollers, 12,13 deliver slivers (e.g. from cans to a table 11 and thence to a drawframe) comprises a lever 19 pivoted at 20 and carrying guide means, 17 for the sliver entering the rollers and 18 for the sliver leaving them; when the sliver accumulates against either guide, e.g. as the result of an entanglement, the lever will be rocked to operate contacts 25, 26 to establish a circuit to stop the machine. The part 22 of the lever has a counterweight which is adjustable so to offset the weight of the guides as just to bring a stop 28 against a fixed stop 29. The part 22 also has a bent-over part 25 to engage a pointed contact 26 carried by a bus-bar 27. These parts are arranged beneath the table to prevent fly accumulating on them; pneumatic fly-removing means may also be employed. The roller 12 may extend the length of one side of the table and a number of rollers 13 each consisting of two bosses for slivers from adjacent cams may be provided. The device will act to detect laps forming on the upper roller as a result of a breakage and may supplement a conventional arrangement where when a break occurs the top roller tilts to close a stop-motion contact.
