Abstract

1,013,281. Flooring units. L. J. PHILIP. Sept. 25, 1962 [June 26, 1961], No. 19136/61. Heading E1B. [Also in Division B5] A flooring unit 1 comprises a wooden block 2 secured to a metal backing plate 5 which projects beyond at least one side edge of the block. As shown, the plate projects at two sides which lie parallel to the grain of the wood; in other embodiments, the plate also projects at the remaining two sides or is flush with these. The sides of the wooden block are plane, undercut, or as shown, concave in section and the plate and block are secured together by rectangular or dovetail formations 4, 6 by adhesive, or by pins. Flanges 8 hold the units in cement, latex, or bitumen, laid on a concrete base and rubber or a synthetic plastic compound is inserted in the spaces between blocks.
