Abstract
806,664. Stair treads. FELL, D. J. June 21, 1956, No. 19273/56. Class 20(4) A stair tread comprises a rigid frame 10, preferably of metal, with walls 12 undercut at 13 to receive a resilient strip 14, preferably of polyvinylchloride and slightly wider than the recess, with a non skid surface 15. The edges 16 of the strip 14 are rebated to make the surfaces 15 and 17 virtually coplanar. In a modification, two parallel recesses have a common T- shaped flange and the base 11 is extended to overhang the stair edge. In other modifications, the recess itself may overhang the stair and may have additional upstanding flanges of inverted L-shape which engage undercut slots in the lower surface of the strip 14.
