Abstract
1,012,255. Hydraulic door check. H. BAUMGARTNER [trading as HANS BAUMGARTNER & CO.]. March 2, 1964 [March 22, 1965], No. 8635/64. Heading E2M. [Also in Division F2] In a double acting dash-pot for electromechanical, pneumatic or hydraulically operated door leaves comprising an oil filled doubled walled cylinder 2 having a non-return valve 10 or 11 arranged at each end and being provided with axially spaced apertures 5 along its inner wall, the leaf of the door is connected to a double acting piston 7 via a rod 6 such that when the piston is caused to move axially along the cylinder the non- return valve under pressure is closed and the oil is forced through the apertures 5 into the surrounding chamber 14, the number of apertures available for discharging the oil being progressively decreased thus producing a steadily increasing retarding action of the door. The apertures may be arranged at regular or irregular spaced intervals and need not all be of the same cross-sectional areas. The chamber 14 communicates with a compensating vessel 15.
