Abstract

1,252,865. Isostatic presses. FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF. 22 May, 1970 [23 May, 1969], No. 25015/70. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F1] An isostatic compression apparatus which may serve as an hydraulic accumulator comprises a vertical cylinder portion containing a loaded piston 6 and a horizontal portion 3 containing a body 7 of material to be compressed e.g. powdered explosive immersed in the pressurized liquid e.g. oil. One end of portion 3 is closed by a plug 9 and hydraulic pressure may be relieved from the other end through a manually operated relief valve 16. When used as an accumulator said other end of portion 3 is connected to a consumer apparatus. The temperature of the oil is controlled by an electric heater 14.
