Abstract

Missiles and other stores are ejected from a pod mounted on an aircraft by a telescopic device consisting of a number of tubular pistons (1, 2, 3) fitting one inside the other and actuated by an explosive charge (6). After use the device is retracted by a spring loaded cable (11) which is attached to the end cap (4) of the outermost piston (3). The cable passes through the coils of long compression springs fitted in guides (12) in the body of the pid. The ends of the cable are attached to the far ends of the springs so that the springs are compressed when the ejection device is extended.
