Abstract

1. Process for heat insulating tanks of a ship transporting liquefied gas, using a granular insulating material and an insulating casing, characterized in that : - the bottom (3a) of the tanks (3) is insulated by fixing against the external face of said bottom a casing (8) of an insulating material, - fitting across the base of the free space (7) surrounding the vertical walls of each tank (3) a supple barrier in cloth (11a, 11b) - fitting in said free space (7) pairs of supple barriers in cloth (12a, 12b) sufficiently spaced apart to define a shaft (10) allowing the passage of a man - and insulating the vertical walls of the tanks by filling said free space (7), with the exception of said shafts (10), with particles of a pulverulent or granular insulating material (9).
