Abstract
1292158 Float glass containers GLAVERBEL 9 Oct 1969 [30 Oct 1968] 49686/69 Heading C1M [Also in Division F4] A float tank which holds a bath of molten material such as tin for a float glass process and has at least one wall located below the surface level of the bath, comprises a layer of prefabricated refractory elements and is formed in such manner that there are paths along which gas could pass from the interior of the furnace or tank through at least part of the thickness of the wall via the joints between the elements, such paths, however, being of such restricted cross-sectional dimensions that the molten material cannot by virtue of surface tension, flow through said paths. As shown, powdered carbon 58 is used to provide a barrier between blocks 56.
