Abstract
Moving coil receiver, suitable for use in a telephone handset, comprises a cylindrical permanent magnet 10, e.g. of TICONAL GX (Registered Trade Mark), having a soft iron polepiece 11, mounted inside a soft iron cup 12. The magnet assembly is located inside a plastics housing 15 which supports a moulded cone diaphragm 13 having a self supporting copper speech coil 14 adhesively attached thereto. A soft iron or mild steel cover 19 is attached to the front of the housing with holes 192 to provide access for the sound to the diaphragm and for equalization, while further holes 152 are provided in the back of the housing covered by acoustic damping material for equalization purposes. The cover 19 may be attached by spinning over the integral rim 191 or may be secured using a separate soft aluminium rim, Fig. 2 (not shown), or the plastics of the housing may be heat formed over the edge of the cover, Fig. 3 (not shown). Full dimension of the transducer, which is about 2 inch diameter and inch thick, are listed.
