Process for obtaining metal-metallic compound dust compositions, characterized by comprising the stages of dispersing solid particles of a metal compound of the group formed by metal carbides, metal periods, metal silicides and metal nitrides, in a solution containing ammonia in which particles are insoluble, and that contains, in solution, a soluble compound of a metal of the group formed by change, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, gold, platinum, palladium, silver, arsenic, copper, tin, nickel and cobalt; of reacting the solution with a reducing gas, at elevated temperature and pressure, for a period of time sufficient to convert the dissolved metals and precipitate them on the solid particles of metal compound in the form of a metal powder; said solid particles of metal compound are present in the solution in sufficient quantity to form, with the precipitated metal powder, a metal-metal compound composite powder, suitable for consolidation or compacting.
