CODIFICADOR DIGITAL PARA COMPRIMIR UNA SEÑAL DE ENTRADA DIGITAL DERIVADA DE UNA SEÑAL ANALOGICA PARA REDUCIR EL NUMERO DE BITS REQUERIDO PARA REPRESENTAR LA SEÑAL ANALOGICA CON BAJO RUIDO DE CUANTIFICACION. EN EL CODIFICADOR SE DIVIDE UNA SEÑAL DE ENTRADA DIGITAL QUE REPRESENTA LA SEÑAL ANALOGICA EN TRES RANGOS DE FRECUENCIA. LA SEÑAL DIGITAL DE CADA UNO DE LOS TRES RANGOS DE FRECUENCIA SE DIVIDE EN EL TIEMPO EN CUADROS, PUDIENDOSE VARIAR ADAPTATIVAMENTE SU DURACION EN EL TIEMPO. LOS CUADROS SE TRANSFORMAN ORTOGONALMENTE EN COEFICIENTES ESPECTRALES, QUE SE AGRUPAN EN BANDAS CRITICAS. EL NUMERO TOTAL DE BITS DISPONIBLE PARA CUANTIZAR LOS COEFICIENTES ESPECTRALES SE ASIGNA ENTRE LAS BANDAS CRITICAS.
