Description
Isolierrohr.
Insulating tube. Attempts have been made to produce insulating tubes for electrotechnical purposes from synthetic resins by pressing. The bending of the core required for this under the action of the high pressure during the manufacture of pipes of around 2 m length does not allow usable pipes to be produced. One therefore has such insulating tubes from z. B. spirally wound, with synthetic resin impregnated cre- webe or paper tapes produced.
It has now been shown that it is possible to manufacture insulating pipes of any length from synthetic resins. The insulating tube according to the present invention consists of a thermoplastic synthetic resin and is produced on an extrusion machine. As synthetic resin, polyvinyl chloride, the plasticizer and possibly fillers, which increase the insulating properties, such. B. quartz, may be added.
The insulating tubes produced in this way can be deformed very easily in comparison with the known metal-reinforced insulating tubes; At room temperature they have significantly greater compressive strength, greater insulation resistance, a 4-6 times greater breakdown voltage, and also an increased surge breakdown voltage. They are completely flame-proof and prevent fires from breaking out in the event of a short circuit or overloading of the conductors, they are chemically resistant to most alkalis and acids and their vapors and are therefore suitable for installation in chemical plants and flush-mounted.
The water absorption is much lower than that of the metal-reinforced pipes with tar paper inlay. These insulating tubes can be manufactured in any color and normalized dimensions, and their weight is very light.
